All those of little faith who did not think he’d go for it!
They must be turning in their graves or keening over walkers. Also the doctors who shook heads at him. The nurses who fussed with his linens as if treating him as an invalid would have him forget that he’s a grown man who had lifted others and carried them first across burning sands and later out of burning buildings.
He always knew that where the rubber meets the road is where he’d meet his maker.
He’d left the Rolex.
The aide can always get another motorcycle.

Yay for him! He doesn’t have to take old age lying down 😉

He left under a cloud (of exhaust?) but still … I hear ya … 😉

Haha! Better than just sitting in a chair waiting, I say…

Yep. Perhaps even the aide (now with the Rolex) agrees … 😉

Thank you, my friend. I’d do a lot for children, who need sane (and reasonably rested) parents in order to do well. And anyway, it takes a village, doesn’t it? 🙂 I know this peanut from when they were a day old burrito bundle, and I knew the child trusts me and will be comfortable letting the mama leave for me to stay a bit. Children need a wide net, especially during hard times. So, I was glad to be able to help a little. The youngling is recovering, so that’s the most important thing! 🙂

Well, he did steal the motorcycle … Going out with a bang is one thing, going out a thief is a whole other thing … 😉 A man’s gotta have standards … 😉

I loved the detail with the Rolex. What a way to go. A good one for him, that’s sure. Great story.

Thank you! Yea, good for him, and may he get his way to take his own way and may no one (else) be harmed.

What a determined old man – very proud. I wonder how one would care for someone like that? You drew a picture of a scrupulous but self-willed man very skilfully.

Determined he indeed is! I am not sure all people can be cared for the way we might want to care for them, or is think is best for them. It seems he is content with his choices, whatever end they may lead to, and perhaps that can be good enough. 🙂

Na’ama Y’karah,
A hero should be allowed to go out on his own terms. Bravo! To him and to the writer of his story. 😉
