It rained. It hailed. It stormed. It flooded.
It none of it mattered.
They laughed. They sang. They danced. They huddled.
They had a chance to reconnect.
In all the ways that mattered, and in some they hadn’t quite dared hope for, yet came true.
Oh, they were cold. And after a time, hungry.
But still the stories flowed. The tears, sometimes. The laughter. Oh, the laughter!
Best of all, the others who would otherwise pass by,
Who would pass judgment,
Did not.
Because the weather
Protective in its dreary wetness
Let them be.
Let them love.
Made it perfect.

That’s a celebration many of us would want to participate in, I guess, rain or not. A lovely, hopeful tale.

I think this is the best kind of reunion, when nothing else matters other than each other’s renewed company. You brought that out vey well.

Thank you! Yes, it is the BEST kind, isn’t it!? I love it when we can forget ourselves in the interaction. 🙂

I got a sort of surreal quality to the happiness these characters are enjoying, almost like a bubble waiting to pop, but for the time being, heaven on earth.

Yes! Very much that! Great observation! Thank you, Dora, for taking the time to read and comment. 🙂 I hope their bubble stays unpopped for a bit longer.

Thanks Brenda! The staccato of rain seemed to be flapping a tempo into my typing fingers … Or was that heartbeat? Hmm … 😉

Lovely, lovely story, Na’ama. I’m sure that even when the initial euphoria fades, there will be a new closeness and a deeper intimacy. A delightfully hopeful story.

Hi Penny, So glad you liked it! 🙂 Yes, I agree, that their connection/re-connection, especially under these peculiar and potentially disheartening conditions, only made them closer! 🙂

Na’ama Y’karah,
Here I am late getting around the squares. Lovely sentiments in your poem. With love and laughter nothing else matters. May it be so.
Shabbat Shalom,
