They’d waited as long as they could, but in the end had to leave without her. Or lose the opportunity.
There would be hell to pay, of course, but they should not all have to suffer the consequences of Mathilde’s tardiness. Not today.
“She’d be furious,” Wanda bit her lip.
“Yep,” Tanya confirmed. She felt bad but not sorry. Sure, Mathilde liked to make an entrance. She liked to keep others on pins and needles. Not today!
Today, for Tanya’s birthday, they lifted to the sky, burners roaring.
Was that Mathilde’s car, tiny, racing at the edge of their horizon?

Serves her right for being late really. Lesson learned hopefully.

Yep. I agree. Sometimes boundaries need to be enforced … AND, it was Tanya’s birthday. You snooze, you lose … 😉

That’s me. It’s not selfish. It’s not malicious. I just have no conceptual understanding of time.

That’s fine, as long as you don’t blame others if they don’t always wait … 🙂

Na’ama Y’karah,
Up, up and away without Mathilde. Perhaps this will teach her to watch the times and forget about being “fashionably late” which in essence can be construed as unfashionably self-centered. See what you started? Good story as always.

Rochelle

They say punctuality is the politeness of kings. I can’t abide people who think it’s okay to keep others waiting

Yeah. Some people have no sense of time, and that’s fine, as long as it is not put onto others to always accommodate them. When the blame is placed on those “who didn’t wait” rather than those who didn’t come on time, is when I get annoyed … 😉

You snooze you loose, i’m sorry but if you’ve got an appointment then get up in time.

Yep. I agree … Or … take the chance you’ll miss some fun.

I can totally relate. Waiting for the same person every single time can be very exasperating.

Yep … and sometimes, it can mean the difference between participating and being left out … So, yeah, I’m glad they chose to go ahead, and perhaps next time she won’t push the envelope and will be there on time …

Great story for a nice moral. Mathilde got a nice lesson (;

Indeed she had …. lesson in timeliness and perhaps in sensitivity besides …

That’ll teach her – it sounds like she’s deliberately late for everything so everyone has to wait on her and watch her arrive. They can give her a cheery wave as they float past!

Whether she’s deliberately late or unconsciously seeking the attention of everyone awaiting her arrival every time … I think that this may well teach her to be more mindful … (and, yeah, I TOTALLY see the cheery wave happening … ;))

The birthday girl learnt to enforce boundaries. Good birthday! A lesson well told!

I wonder if Mathilde will learn anything from this episode. Probably not!.

I’ll give her the benefit of the doubt … see if she gets on time to their planned cruise … 😉

Do you think Mathilde will learn her lesson? Probably not.. until she gets left behind another time…

I have a feeling you are right … 😉 Or, we can both be pleasantly surprised if the one-time-treatment offers a cure … 😉

There are those who are chronically late and if we keep accepting their lateness, will never adjust. They need to be left behind a few times or accept that they will miss out on things…

I like how you reminded us of that one, you know who I mean, who seems to think the world can wait until they are ready.

I wonder if Mathilde is going to get furious or not 😋

I expect she’ll get furious. Then (I hope) she’ll understand and then (I REALLY hope) she won’t be late the next time …
(I’m an optimist…) 😉

I have very little sympathy for those who are chronically late. Hope she gets a clue from being left behind.

I hope so, too … Sometimes people are just mindless and learn their lesson … Other times, their tardiness is a sign of a bigger issue and then … change? not so much …
