Up And Away

They’d waited as long as they could, but in the end had to leave without her. Or lose the opportunity.

There would be hell to pay, of course, but they should not all have to suffer the consequences of Mathilde’s tardiness. Not today.

“She’d be furious,” Wanda bit her lip.

“Yep,” Tanya confirmed. She felt bad but not sorry. Sure, Mathilde liked to make an entrance. She liked to keep others on pins and needles. Not today!

Today, for Tanya’s birthday, they lifted to the sky, burners roaring.

Was that Mathilde’s car, tiny, racing at the edge of their horizon?

  1. Na’ama Y’karah,

Up, up and away without Mathilde. Perhaps this will teach her to watch the times and forget about being “fashionably late” which in essence can be construed as unfashionably self-centered. See what you started? Good story as always.

    • Yeah. Some people have no sense of time, and that’s fine, as long as it is not put onto others to always accommodate them. When the blame is placed on those “who didn’t wait” rather than those who didn’t come on time, is when I get annoyed … 😉

    • Yep … and sometimes, it can mean the difference between participating and being left out … So, yeah, I’m glad they chose to go ahead, and perhaps next time she won’t push the envelope and will be there on time …

    • Whether she’s deliberately late or unconsciously seeking the attention of everyone awaiting her arrival every time … I think that this may well teach her to be more mindful … (and, yeah, I TOTALLY see the cheery wave happening … ;))
