“Mama, we are quite out of
Yellow
And down to the last
Red.
I’ve used up all the
Orange
And can’t use green
Instead.
We must head to the
Market
Where there’s so much to
Get.
I cannot cook this salad
If
Colors aren’t all here
Yet!”
For the Tuesday Photo Challenge: Groceries
Wonderful! Makes me smile to think of putting together the perfect salad!

I love the idea of a child thinking of cooking a salad. It feels just right

He was, indeed, “cooking salad” … which became the inspiration to the whole thing … 🙂

Children can be the source of so much pleasure, and amazement. The workings of the mind, before it’s been coerced into society’s straitjacket.

Indeed! And hopefully we can do all we can to safeguard at least some part of their creative minds … 🙂

Yea. Too often adults puts down the child’s imagination in such a disparaging way as to stifle further development

Indeed, and that is always a tragedy in my eyes. We ought to be so much more sensitive to the needs of children to BE and GROW and not just to our need to have them adhere to our rules to make life easier for us in managing them and the other demands society places on everyone. Granted, it is a balancing act, but it is one that needs to be taken on with awareness. And with flexibility (like all balancing acts, eh?)

Ought to be. In the ideal world all parents would feel like this. All children would be wanted and loved, cherished, respected. But in the real world, shit happens. And it’s the kids who take the brunt, and in their own days, pass it on.

Sadly that’s often the truth. Sometimes, thought, children grow up to NOT repeat and NOT pass on the stuff they’d been subjected to. Which gives me hope. Because destiny is not always negotiable, but there are places where we are given choice, and some of us grab hold of it best we can, and make good things out of bad. Or better things out of not very much.
